================================================================
 SORYNO METER  v1.0.0
 Loudness meter (Windows / VST3)
================================================================

Thank you for choosing SORYNO METER.

This plug-in is free. It is not a demo. There is no time limit, no feature
timeout and no nag screen. There is no paid version of it either - this is
the whole product.

It shows, on one screen, how loud your track is in LUFS, how close it gets to
the ceiling, and whether the stereo image is healthy.

* It never changes the sound. The audio that comes out is bit-for-bit
  identical to the audio that goes in (verified for every preset, at four
  sample rates, in mono and stereo).

■ System requirements
----------------------------------------------------------------

  OS             Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit)
  Format         VST3
  Sample rates   44.1 / 48 / 96 / 192 kHz
  Channels       Mono / Stereo
  Extra software None
  Latency        0 (nothing is processed)

  * The Visual C++ redistributable is NOT required.
  * There is no macOS version and no AAX (Pro Tools) version.

■ Installing
----------------------------------------------------------------

  Double-click Install.bat. Administrator rights are not needed.

  It installs to:
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Common\VST3

  Rescan your plug-ins in your DAW afterwards.

  * About the Windows warning
    Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". This is because the
    installer is not signed with a (paid) developer certificate. Choose
    "More info" -> "Run anyway".

  To uninstall:
    powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File install.ps1 -Uninstall

  * Suggested place: the very last slot on your master bus.

■ Reading the display
----------------------------------------------------------------

  Right - the numbers
    INTEGRATED loudness of the whole programme (LUFS), shown largest.
                 Its colour tells you how far you are from the target:
                   green within +-1 LU of the target
                   amber  louder than the target
                   blue   quieter than the target
                 Underneath, the exact difference in LU.
    SHORT loudness over the last 3 seconds
    MOMENTARY loudness over the last 0.4 seconds
    LRA loudness range (how far quiet and loud parts are apart)
    TRUE PEAK the real peak, including between samples (dBTP)
    SAMPLE PEAK the peak of the sample values only (dBFS)
    OVER -1 dBTP how many times the true peak went above -1 dBTP (turns red)
    CORRELATION how alike left and right are (+1 identical / 0 unrelated /
                 -1 inverted). Below zero, the mix will thin out in mono.
    BALANCE      which side is louder

  Left - the time line
    About 50 seconds of loudness history. The green dashed line is the
    TARGET, with a faint +-1 LU band around it.
    * Anything louder than the target is painted amber, so you can see at a
      glance where it is too loud.

■ Settings (they only change the display - never the sound)
----------------------------------------------------------------

  TARGET (-23 / -18 / -16 / -14 / -12 / -9 LUFS)
    Where the reference line is drawn.
    * It only draws the line. It never adjusts the audio to reach it -
      that is the job of a tool that processes, such as a limiter.

  SCALE (-40..0 / -30..0 / -60..0)
    Vertical range of the time line.

  PEAK HOLD
    on: keep showing the highest peak so far
    off: show the peak of the last second

  RESET
    Starts INTEGRATED, LRA, peaks and the over count from scratch.
    * Automate RESET at the start of your song to re-measure on every play.

■ How it measures (by the standards)
----------------------------------------------------------------

  - Loudness   ITU-R BS.1770-4 / EBU R128
  - LRA        EBU Tech 3342
  - True peak  4x oversampling

  It has been checked against the EBU test signals and gives the answers
  the standards expect (e.g. a 1 kHz sine at -23 dBFS reads -23.0 LUFS).

  * Streaming targets such as -14 LUFS are the typical values published by
    each service. They can change; please check each service for the
    current figure.

■ Presets
----------------------------------------------------------------

    Init              target -14, range -40..0
    Streaming -14     target -14, range -30..0 (a closer view)
    Apple Music -16   target -16
    Broadcast -23     target -23, range -60..0 (broadcast)
    Loud Master -9    target -9, range -30..0
    Live Watch target -14, PEAK HOLD off (watch the current peak)

■ A / B and "A>B"
----------------------------------------------------------------

  Keep two settings side by side and switch between them.

    A / B swaps the two settings (the audio keeps playing)
    A>B * copies the current settings onto the other slot.
                On B the button reads "B>A" and copies the other way.
                ** Whatever was in the other slot is overwritten.
                  Pressed it by mistake? UNDO (the arrow at the top
                  left) puts it back.

  * A / B compares. A>B copies. They are not the same button.

■ The rest of SORYNO
----------------------------------------------------------------

  METER only measures. Bringing the numbers to a target or holding the
  peaks down is the job of a tool that processes:

    SORYNO LIMIT limiter (raise the level, hold the ceiling)
    SORYNO COMP     compressor
    SORYNO EQ       equaliser
    SORYNO DEESS    de-esser
    SORYNO TAPE     tape saturator
    SORYNO CLIP     clipper

  All of them have a free version. https://pinzu.tech/pinzuaudio/

■ Update notices
----------------------------------------------------------------

  SORYNO METER is free. When a new version is released you can download it
  from the same BOOTH page.

  The plug-in checks for a newer version when its window opens. It shows a
  notice if there is one; it never installs anything by itself.

  * Turning the check off
    Right-click anywhere on the plug-in window and untick
    "Check for updates".

  * What is sent
    Nothing. The plug-in reads one small text file on GitHub. No information
    about you, your computer, your song or your usage is transmitted. If
    there is no connection it quietly does nothing.

■ New products
----------------------------------------------------------------

  - Follow the BOOTH shop: https://pinzu.booth.pm/
  - YouTube:                https://www.youtube.com/@soryno_audio

  * We never send e-mail and do not collect e-mail addresses.

■ Licence
----------------------------------------------------------------

  - No limit on the number of machines. Commercial use is fine.
  - Please do not redistribute or resell. If you would like to recommend it,
    please link the BOOTH page rather than sharing the files.
  - Full terms: https://pinzu.tech/pinzuaudio/terms.html

■ Checking the version
----------------------------------------------------------------

  The version is shown next to the product name, top left:

    V1.0.0

  To verify the file itself:

  SHA256 (VST3\SORYNO METER.vst3\Contents\x86_64-win\SORYNO METER.vst3)
    D1B5F0BD824A56DB93C325C2A41822DE205C9A8AC861EFF26F15938C08482A3C

  In PowerShell:
    Get-FileHash "VST3\SORYNO METER.vst3\Contents\x86_64-win\SORYNO METER.vst3"

■ Troubleshooting
----------------------------------------------------------------

  It does not appear in my DAW
    -> Rescan your plug-ins.

  INTEGRATED stays at "--.-"
    -> No audio yet, or the audio is quieter than -70 LUFS. By the standard,
       that part is not counted.

  CORRELATION and BALANCE show "--"
    -> There is no audio. Left and right cannot be compared in silence;
       the numbers appear as soon as audio plays.

  The numbers differ slightly from another meter
    -> True peak can differ by 0.1 to 0.3 dB between tools (they estimate
       the peaks between samples differently). INTEGRATED follows the
       standard, so it matches other standard-compliant meters.

  The numbers are still from the previous song
    -> Press RESET.
